Although that particular mask was crude and badly made, I realized that the possibilities of working with papier-mache, cardboard and paper clay were endless, and have since strived to perfect the technique.\r\nMy background is in sculpture, and working with cardboard has allowed me to continue the exploration of 3-D forms within the confines of a small Tokyo apartment. I like the challenge of realizing 2-D shapes in three dimensions, and tend to choose forms with an interesting or dynamic silhouette.
